60 minutes

"Faith has to do with things that are not seen and hope with things that are not at hand."
--Saint Thomas Aquinas

If you had one extra hour each day to do with as you please, what would you do--and why?

Oh, this will seem silly coming from a blog and all (but with my lack of postings, I think you'll understand)...I'd write. Wander away for my whole hour with a good cup of coffee and just scribble away.
The habit I'm in now, of writing in small snatches isn't really working. I used to carry around a little black pocket notebook when I was in high school and write my thoughts as I was thinking them. Now it seems like everything takes priority over my "hobby." And I think if passions and gifts aren't nurtured, they begin to wither--maybe my desire to write is dying.
But I feel sad even writing that, and don't want that to be true. Come on! I teach a writing class! I have many many filled or part-filled journals! I find pens when I'm not looking for pens.
And here's the thing: we can find hours when we're looking for them. We have to set aside times for creativity and wonder, because it will always seem like there are more important things to do. But what it is all about is creating. Especially when we combine it with those essential must-d0-first things. And most of all when we can share it with those essential people.
