"No man is an island."
--John Donne
When (or where) do you feel most alone? Explain...
"Alone" is really a strange thing. I love being around people: talking, telling stories, laughing, cooking a big meal...it's always better with people. Not without.
But there are times I just want to be quiet. To think nothing thoughts. To write or read or just stare blankly ahead. And it seems like when I need those times, they aren't there. And as with everything that is unattainable--I crave it all the more.
I feel most alone, though, when others do things that push me there. I like alone when it's my choice. Not when I don't get the joke, not when I said something serious and everyone thinks it's funny, not when I make plans and then plans change, not when I just don't feel understood. Not any of those times. That makes me feel alone, even if I'm surrounded by people. Even if those people really love me. And I really love them.
These are rare instances, thankfully. They remind us of our need for others, for understanding, for a place. And those are true needs, and true lessons from God. Because even when we feel the gray overcrowded feeling of alone, we aren't really.
And that knowledge, like warm welcome sun, leads us back.

Nice name.
I think alone is a strange thing too. If you are a Christian though, you are never alone.
we all are saying that we don't like being alone, but sometimes we need it. and i think Anne deffinitly would have payed anything just to be alone. haha!
